Iowa Park City Hall lobby closed, drive through open

Due to the COVID-19 situation, Iowa Park City Hall lobby will remain closed until further notice to protect the health and well-being of city staff, customers and citizens.

The Drive-through window at City Hall (103 N Wall) will be open 8:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday, and will accept payments in the form of cash, checks, money orders or credit cards. Credit card payments can also be made over the phone or at www.iowapark.com. The after-hour drop box at City Hall will be open after hours.

Friendly Door closing dining services, in-center activities

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, and changing requirements for dining establishments,  Friendly Door Senior Citizens Center will be closing their dining room effective Monday, March 23, until further notice. 

We will continue to deliver Meals on Wheels at this time to all our regular Meals on Wheels clients. 

Gov. Abbott issues executive order for schools, restaurants bars and gyms

Texas Governor Greg Abbott today announced an executive order closing all schools, dine-in restaurants, bars and gyms across the state through April 3, although it could be extended. Takeout and delivery orders will be allowed for restaurants.

The Leader contacted Iowa Park restaurants this afternoon for their plans in the wake of the announcement. Following are what each local restaurant will be offering:

Local woman loses home, possessions in fire

An Iowa Park resident lost her home and most all her possessions when her home caught fire Saturday morning.

Sandra Lehman’s home at 102 East Garden was a total loss after a possible electrical fire started at approximately 11:55 a.m.

Burkburnett, Wichita Falls, Wichita West, and Sheppard Air Force Base Fire Departments provided Iowa Park Fire Department with manpower and equipment mutual aide.

According to an Iowa Park Police officer on scene Lehman and her small dog got out of the burning home safely.
