Animal reclaim center now closed, services continue

While Iowa Park Animal Control will continue normal services, the animal reclaim center will be closed to the general public until COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted for Wichita County, according to Iowa Park Animal Control Officer Christine Dison.

However, impounded animals can be reclaimed by a single member of their family.

Also, owner surrenders are now by appointment only and may result in the immediate euthanasia of your pet.

The Wichita County Health District received confirmation of eight new positive cases of COVID-19 in Wichita County Friday, and an additional three cases Saturday, bringing the total of positive cases to 26.

Some leaders in some areas are considering curfews. While, it is uncertain what the future may bring, Iowa Park has not experienced evening activities since local schools have closed and there is little nonessential movement in Iowa Park after the sun goes down. If this continues, there will not likely be a need for any curfew. However, as this situation evolves and as people’s habits may change, officials will take any actions which may be necessary to protect public health and safety.

Restaurants, schools and Friendly Door impacted by Gov. Abbott’s executive order

Texas Governor Greg Abbott today announced an executive order last Thursday closing all schools, dine-in restaurants, bars and gyms across the state through April 3, although it could be extended. Takeout and delivery orders will be allowed for restaurants.
