A second candidate has filed to run for City Council Place 3 in the special election Nov. 2. Randall Lewis Barker filed this week and will be running against Jeffrey Pogatshnik to fill the position left open with the resignation of Andy Payne.

Timothy Norman Sidlauskas, 59, was taken into custody by Wichita County deputies Friday on an Iowa Park warrant for indecent assault, a class A misdemeanor.
Since March of 2020, Wichita County has seen a total of 16,117 residents from younger than one month old to over 100 years old, receive positive COVID-19 test results. As of last Friday, 344 of those have died as a result of COVID.
Orientation for teachers new to the Iowa Park School system was held this week, along with staff development, and students will begin their new school year next Thursday, Aug. 19.
Terry Wayne Wakefield, Jr., was taken into custody Monday by Wichita County deputies on an Iowa Park warrant for accident involving damage to a vehicle/fail to comply.
