Trustees approve guaranteed cost for construction

Iowa Park CISD trustees handled a lengthy agenda during Thursday night’s regular meeting, held once again in teleconference fashion pursuant to Gov. Greg Abbott’s temporary suspension of open meetings laws.

Among the items under consideration were bond construction updates and consideration of a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the initial work, discussion of the venue for high school graduation, land acquisition from Sealed Air Corporation, and resignations/employment of personnel.

City council meeting in special session

The Iowa Park City Council will meet in special session at 7 tonight in the city hall council chambers, 103 E. Cash St. The public meeting is limited to a maximum of 10 people in the room.

During the meeting the council will consider a request from the Iowa Park CISD for a waiver of the fireworks ordinance for the 2020 graduation ceremony at the Iowa Park High School campus on Friday, June 5.

Council will also discuss and consider the Local State of Disaster for Public Health Emergency adopted by the council on March 23.

Six new cases of COVID-19 in Wichita County

Six new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported this week in Wichita County which brings the total to 22 active cases as of presstime Wednesday. All are currently recovering at home in isolation.

The Iowa Park City Council met in regular session Monday night while observing the safety measures put in place in response to the Covid-19 public health emergency. Attendance was limited to 10 people in the council chamber, and the meeting was available online for public viewing.
