Cristian Alfonso Papaelias, 17, was taken into custody on charges of burglary of a motor vehicle after an officer observed two subjects near a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Glenda at 4:45 a.m. and when he went to approach them both subjects took off running and entered an alley in the 1000 block of Van Horn. The officer located the subjects hiding behind a utility pole. He told the subjects to step out from behind the pole. At that time, he observed the subjects throw something white, which appeared to be gloves. He advised the subjects to step in front of his unit for an officer’s safety pat down. The officer was able to identify Papaelias. He was told he was being detained for further investigation and while the officer has placing him in hand restraints the second subject threw several cards down and took off running. A second officer was unable to locate the second subject. Papaelias refused to give officers the second subject’s name. He stated he and two friends came to Iowa Park, but he didn’t steal anything. While officers were investigating it was determined the white items the subjects threw were socks, they were using as gloves and the cards were identifying information and debit/credit cards taken from a vehicle in the 500 block of N. Wall. Papaelias was transported to Wichita County jail.
