Iowa Park’s Hawk basketball team played second place Burkburnett tooth and nail at home Tuesday night, with the Bulldogs prevailing 63-54 to stay within one game back (7-1) of District 5-4A leader Hirschi (7-0).

Iowa Park’s Hawk basketball team improved to 3-2 in District 5-4A Friday with a 61-53 win on the road against Graham.

“The Hawks played a great game in a hostile environment Friday night,” said Hawk coach Blake Swenson. “We started out hot, and were able to withstand the run Graham made. We have gone through the gauntlet the first half of district playing four of our five games on the road.

“We are looking forward to getting back in our gym for the stretch run,” Swenson added. “Things have started to click for our guys and we couldn’t be more proud of where we stand now.”
