One of the most anticipated games in the state this week will be played Friday in Hawk Stadium, as the eighth-ranked Mean Green hosts the Graham Steers for what likely will be the District 3-4A championship.
Iowa Park’s Mean Green broke open a close 21-14 game in the second quarter with three quick scores before half at Mineral Wells, closing out with a 42-14 win over the Rams in the District 3-4A opener for both teams Friday.
Iowa Park’s Lady Hawk volleyball team split their conference matches this past week, defeating Mineral Wells Friday on the road, then falling to Vernon in five sets Tuesday, again on the road.
Finding out last Tuesday evening that Mineral Wells would be unable to field a freshman team for Thursday’s subvarsity matchups forced Iowa Park’s 9th and JV teams to combine for one game.
After working through non-conference play this season and going 4-1, the No. 8 Iowa Park Hawks will now focus their attention on the start of a new season – District 3-4A action that begins tomorrow night for the Mean Green in Mineral Wells.
