Middle School athletes split wins with Burkburnett

The following are game results of W.F. George Middle School seventh and eighth grade boys basketball played against Burkburnett Monday:

8th A Hawks 29, Burk 40

“The boys played hard and are contiuing to show improvement every game,” said Coach Jason Young, who added there were three players absent because of COVID-19 protocols.

Scorers included Joe Jowers, 8; Hunter Britt, 4; Austin Stokes 3; and Tye Robertson and Coyt Holloway, 2.

Defensive standouts were Mason Stevens, Maddox Bernard, Evan Locker, and Austin Stokes.

Hawks rally defeat Paradise in OT

The Iowa Park Hawk basketball team recorded an exciting 42-35 overtime win Friday against Paradise, then cruised to a 45-37 win over Archer City on Saturday.

Despite starting the 2020 season 1-4, the Celina Bobcats turned things around with a four-game win streak going into Friday’s 1-4A DII Regional Semifinal bout with Iowa Park at Apogee Stadium on the campus of North Texas University in Denton.

After trailing 14-7 in the first quarter Friday night at Abilene’s Anthony Field, Iowa Park’s Mean Green defense put the clamps on the high octane Lubbock Estacado offense, and the Hawk offense responded with three more scores in the first half enroute to a 41-21 1-4A DII Area win.
