Hawk bands blow doors at Heartland Music Festival

The entire Hawk Band grades 6-12 competed at the Heartland Music Festival at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple in Guthrie, OK on Saturday, April 24. There were four performing ensembles - 6th Grade Beginner Band, 7th/8th Grade Varsity Band, HS Concert Band, and HS Jazz Band. Every ensemble earned a Sweepstakes Award, which means every judge gave them the highest rating possible.

COMPETES AT STATE

Three teams from Iowa Park High School participated in the Vex Robotics State Tournament on April 10th in Redwater Texas. The IPHS teams all made the alliance selections, which is the finals bracket for the tournament. The teams comprised of Emalea Gray, Austin Bish, and Sierra Jackson and alliance partner made up of Daniel McIlroy, Alex Casey, and Josh Williamson made it to the quarterfinal round before being eliminated. “These teams have worked hard all year to make it to the state competition and have won many awards,” said IPHS Math/Robotics teacher Joanne Hawkins.
