Wanda Caroline (Gimbel) Sorey

Wanda Caroline (Gimbel) Sorey, 82, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park with Pastor Tim Franks officiating. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas.

Wanda was born November 1, 1937 in Dalhart, Texas to Louis and Evelyn (Smith) Gimbel. She met Dennis Sorey, Jr. in Fort Morgan, Colorado and was married on July 6, 1956. She and her husband traveled with his job in most of the Midwestern states before settling in Iowa Park in 1966. Wanda was a member and dearly loved Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park. She was a volunteer in the community and loved serving others.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and husband of nearly 54 years.

Surviving relatives include her children, Steve Sorey and wife, Maryann of Georgetown, Texas; Sandra Furlow of Iowa Park, Texas; Dennis Sorey of Kempner, Texas; and Gaylene Sorey of Iowa Park, Texas; two grandchildren, Alexandria Sorey Furlow and Cheyenne Sorey Slagle; and brother, Gilbert Gimbel and wife Orpha of Fort Morgan, Colorado.
