Richard Lee Sullivan
Richard Lee Sullivan passed away November 5. Private family services were held Saturday, November 9.
Sullivan was born December 11, 1945, in Shattuck, OK, to A.C. and Dorothy Sullivan. He grew up and attended school in Amarillo, TX. On Thanksgiving Day, 1963, at the young age of 17, Richard left Amarillo to join the United States Navy and fight in the Vietnam War. During his 3 ½ years of service in the military, Richard served as a fireman on the USS St. Louis.
Richard returned home to Amarillo where he began a career in construction, which he continued full time until 2005.
On May 12, 1987, Richard married Eldeane (Deanie) Alana Burke, his softer half and right-hand woman in both his work and personal life. Before moving back to Texas, Richard and Deanie lived several places across the country, from Connecticut to Florida. He always found a reason to live close to the water. Richard loved the water and all types of fishing. When they returned to Texas in 1995, they bought and developed a mobile home park in Shallowater, TX, which they owned until 2015. During this time, Richard enjoyed sharing his passion for his country by traveling across the country to participate in multiple tea parties. He was always looking for an opportunity to discuss politics.
In 2017, Richard and Deanie retired on Lake Kickapoo, once again living on the water.
Survivors include his wife, of the home, one daughter, Regina Sullivan, of Fort Worth, TX, two sons, Kevin Sullivan of Iowa Park, TX, and Greg Sullivan and his wife, Shellye of Iowa Park, TX, and four grandchildren: Madison Jacobi, Mason Sullivan, Khloe Sullivan, and Bryson Sullivan, all of Iowa Park, TX. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Sullivan, and his parents.
Those wishing may donate to Hospice of Wichita Falls or the Wichita County Humane Society in his memory.
