Michael Walker Sewell

Michael Walker Sewell, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 15, in Wichita Falls.

An inurnment and prayer was held on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Highland Cemetery.

Mick was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Iowa Park, to Eunice Davis Sewell and James Alfred Sewell. He was an Eagle Scout, played coronet in the school band, and played tennis, basketball, and football. He graduated from Iowa Park High School in 1954, where he was president of his senior class. He was an honors graduate of North Texas State University in Denton where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. His interest in writing led him to Stanford University where he studied creative writing before graduating in 1974 from Iowa with a PHD in English. He served in the US Army Reserves before becoming a college professor.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Patrick Sewell.
