Melbourne Carl (Pete) Reid, 93, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Electra Memorial Cemetery in Electra, Texas under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.

Melbourne was born on March 20, 1927 near Frederick, in Tilman County, Oklahoma as the 6th child born to John Whitney and Ruby Mae (Pitts) Reid. Melbourne married Dorris Nell Barker on April 8, 1951 in Vernon, Texas until her passing on December 7, 2018.

He is survived by one son, Mel Carey Reid and his wife, Manya of Hastings, Oklahoma; one daughter, Debora Elaine (Reid) Stewart and her husband, Bruce of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandchildren Tara (Reid) Thompson, JoLyn (Schwartz) Maxwell, Angie Stewart, and Lindsay (Stewart) Glougie; great-grandchildren Taylor Thompson, Dakota Reid Rogers, Gavin Glougie, and Kaegan Bailey; beloved sister; Delores (Reid) Burchfield; brothers and sisters-in-law; Wilbur Reid and wife Geneva, and Norvell Reid and wife Joyce; and numerous family members and friends.

Melbourne was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers J. W., Melton Edward, and Roy; sisters: Francis Hilliard, Mary McClean, and Lou Nell Steward; and great-grandson Dalton Paul Schwartz. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to be made to the New Electra Memorial Cemetery. Due to Covid 19, please respect proper distancing and masks are preferred.
