Martha Oneta McMath Hughes, age 87, of Iowa Park, Texas died on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 in Iowa Park, Texas.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 at Dutton Funeral Home with Rev. Gary House, of Iowa Park, Texas, officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home, Iowa Park, Texas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Dutton Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Neta was born October 8, 1933 in Mountainair, New Mexico to Lloyd McMath and Lessie Ann (Holley) McMath. She and Marion (Pete) Hughes were married September 29, 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico. She attended Farwell High School in Farwell, Texas.

She supported her husband, Pete, throughout his military career and his time working on the railroad. She worked in the Iowa Park school system cafeterias for many years, and enjoyed the company of her coworkers.

She loved to cook, sew, and spend time with the ladies in her Sunday school class. She was a dedicated and faithful servant for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by husband, Pete, sister, Wanda Terry and son-in-law, Scott Sanders.

Neta is survived by children, Penny Lynn Hughes, of Iowa Park, Randy Glen Hughes and wife Terri of Fort Worth, Texas, and Holley Dawn Sanders of Iowa Park; a brother, Charles “Sonny” Lassiter of Clovis, New Mexico, and niece, Carol Williams of Amarillo, Texas. Grandchildren Tiffany Parker and Josh, Russell Sanders and Tosca, Jeff Hughes and Jennifer, Ryan Sanders and Miranda, Sarah Winsett and David. Great-grandchildren June, Wyatt, Austin, Abigail, Luke, Caroline, John, and Layla.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Iowa Park Volunteer Fire Department and Hospice of Wichita Falls.
