Linda Kay Thurman Tingle
Linda K. Tingle, age 69, of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away peacefully Friday, August 13, 2021.
Linda was born November 3, 1951, in Phoenix, Arizona to Joseph Molzhon Sr. and Esther Maxine Light Molzhon Thurman. In her younger years Linda and her mother took many trips to Catalina Island, California, Wyoming, and Mexico. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1970 in Phoenix, Arizona.
She joined the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War in 1971. After completing her basic training, she was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, TX, where she worked for the 3750th Airbase orderly room and the WAF Squadron.
While at Sheppard Air Force Base, she met Joel Tingle, and they married at Chapel 2 on Sheppard Air Force Base. They share one daughter, Jennifer D. Tingle Bolf. After leaving the military, Linda worked security at the municipal airport, Vantage Point Condo, and CertainTeed fiberglass. She later worked as a secretary for the Petrol-Lewis Company and became a pumper for the same company.
Linda was in a serious car accident in August 1981, which disabled her, but didn’t stop her. In the years following the accident, she served as both 1st Vice Commander and Commander at the American Legion Post 202 on E. Scott Street, Wichita Falls, TX. A huge animal lover, she also volunteered at E.D. Wildlife Park Zoo, the Wichita County Humane Society, and Miss Fannies Friends. Linda also regularly volunteered at the petting zoo during the state fairs. She was a fan of wrestling and motorcycle riding and was a stout supporter of our veterans.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Henry Grady Thurman, half-sister Rochelle Tanner, son-in-law Charles “Ricky” Bolf, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer D. Tingle Bolf, brother Joseph H. Molzhon, Jr., Las Vegas, NV, and half- brother Mark A. Molzhon, Lancaster, WI; and grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held on Tuesday, 14 September, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, TX. Interment will be at the Fort Sill Cemetery in Elgin, OK, Thursday, 16 September with military honors, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
