      Evelyn (Douglas) Ward, 82, reached her Heavenly home on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Burkburnett, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park with Pastor Tim Franks officiating and Evelyn’s son, Wes Ward, giving the message. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas. There will be a visitation from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the funeral home.

     Evelyn was born on September 16, 1939 in Shreveport, Louisiana to James and Bernice (Sasser) Douglas. She grew up in Shreveport where she attended Byrd High School. Evelyn attended Calvary Baptist Church where she met her husband of 63 years, Joe Ward. They married on December 24, 1958 in Shreveport. Evelyn’s entire life was devoted to her Lord and her family. Evelyn was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park. She ministered through church and also volunteering in various civic organizations. She was well known for her faith, empathy, hospitality, and spoiling those she loved. Cooking for others and her love for gardening gave her great joy.

     Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bobby, Edward and Jimmy Douglas; and one sister, Donna Jablonka.

      Surviving relatives include her husband, Joe Ward, Sr. of Iowa Park, Texas; two sons, Joe Ward, Jr. and wife, Pamela of Rockwall, Texas; and Wes Ward and wife, Carrie of Niles, Michigan; daughter, Valerie Dillard and husband, Dennis of Iowa Park; grandchildren, Rachel, Rebekah and Jacob Ward; Graham Ward and wife, Blake; Maggie, Benjamin and his fiancé, Crista Loveing, and Emma Ward; Bethany Segovia and husband, David, and Jordan Dillard; great grandson, Wyatt Segovia; brother, Steven Douglas and wife, Julie of Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
