Donny Ray Bates

Donny Ray Bates, 74, of Iowa Park, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, in Wichita Falls.

Services were held Saturday, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City with Allen Bates, Pastor of Victory Church in Decatur, officiating. Interment followed in the Archer City Cemetery.

Donny was born Jan. 10, 1946, in Archer City, to the late Robert Lee Bates and Orene Owen Bates. He started school in Holliday. He and Brenda Elledge were married on May 24, 1966 in Archer City.

In 1978, he became the co-owner of Bates Concrete and Construction and operated the business for twenty-five years. He enjoyed playing music, and was an avid sports fan. He was a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Danny Lee; and sisters, Linda and Martha.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Bates of Iowa Park; daughter, Darla Rae Chandler of Iowa Park; son, Donny Bates, Jr. of Crowley; two brothers, Bobby Bates of Holliday, and Freddy Bates of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Barbara Cordova of Henrietta, Debra Skinner of Burkburnett and Brenda O‘Niell of Henrietta; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
