DeWayne (Dewey) Williams
DeWayne (Dewey) Williams, age 78, passed to Heaven on August 23 surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2:00pm, at Lakeview Church; 301 SE Access Road, Iowa Park, Texas with a visitation to follow.
DeWayne was born on March 11, 1943 to Kenneth Harding Williams and Bonnie (Massey) Williams. He was a lifetime resident of Iowa Park.
He married his high school sweetheart, Gay Campbell, on August 15, 1964. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
DeWayne graduated from W.F. George High School in Iowa Park. He won several sharp shooting metals in ROTC while attending Midwestern State University. He went on to become a Master Carpenter, operating Williams Cabinet Shop in Iowa Park for over 40 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends and family, gardening and being outdoors. He worked at Sisk Bullets, was a lifelong shooter and founding member of the Iowa Park Trap Club.
His passion, however, was raising racing pigeons; a hobby he developed as a young boy. He was a member of the Iowa Park and Wichita Falls Racing Pigeon Clubs since childhood. Al Reed would give him racing pigeons for going to Sunday school as a child. He flew his last races with the Wichita Falls Racing Pigeon Club. He was particularly fond of the Yellow Racing homing pigeons that were sent to him from Idaho.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Gay; brother, Dale Williams and wife Cindy; children April Thompson and husband Mike, David DeWayne and wife Ardenne, Necia Myers and husband Jeff and his beloved pet, Lady. He is also survived by 5 granddaughters, Katarina, Anastasia, Heather, Bailey and Abby and 3 great grandsons.
