Johnny lived a full and faithful life. During his early career as a Supervisor at Cryovac in Iowa Park and as a Manager at Sprague Electric in Wichita Falls, Johnny was already a great leader. After eleven years in the business world, Johnny heeded the call to ministry that he had felt strongly since the age of seventeen. After working hard to receive his Divinity Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1986, Johnny spent the next twenty-four years as a Senior Pastor and Church Planter at multiple churches across Texas. The impact on those that were lucky enough to benefit from his ministry is immeasurable. He was a caring, loving, and authentic leader of his congregations. When his time in formal church-based ministry came to an end in 2010, Johnny joined Careington International where he worked hard for eleven years, most recently serving as Assistant Vice President of Customer Engagement. Johnny used each day at Careington to make a positive impact on his fellow employees as well as every customer and client he interacted with each day. Johnny is an example of living each day to the fullest while focusing on the needs of others and serving others well.
Johnny’s call to minister to others was a life-long calling. The best example of how he did this over the last ten years is through his daily devotions. Many either followed Johnny’s online devotions each day or received his daily devotional text messages. Countless people have been able to start each day with an encouraging word that Johnny would write along with a scripture. Johnny kept writing and sending these until the end, with his last devotion sent just 5 days before he passed. Johnny knew the power of God in his life and knew the impact it could make on others.
