Boyde Darrell Taylor
Boyde Darrell Taylor, 78, of Iowa Park, Texas, passed away, July 9, 2021.
He was born at Gorman, Texas, November 7, 1942. He graduated from Odessa High School and attended some junior college classes.
As a teenager, he went to work in the grocery store business where he would continue for 55 years. Darrell learned the unique skills of meat cutting. He was employed by Everybody’s Supermarket, Humpty Dumpty, and Piggly Wiggly stores. In 1978, he began the independent grocery store chain-Wichita Food Mart-that benefitted numerous employees and customers for 36 yrs.
Also, Darrell was a rancher, farmer and dairyman for over 50 years. He had a strong work ethic and helped his community through the Wichita County Young Farmers, Iowa Park Muleskinners, and his children’s activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.L. (Weldon Lonzo) and Avie Keith Taylor of De Leon, TX, and brother-in-law, Lennis Cearley.
He is survived by children Terry Taylor, Tracy Taylor, and Bryan Taylor. Also, his sister, Jean Taylor Cearley; and grandchildren, Blake, Brock and Trena Pustejovsky; Wade and Jake Van Winkle; 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, longtime friends and caregivers.
Graveside funeral services were held in Victor Cemetery, De Leon, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2021, with Minister Rick Smitherman, De Leon Church of Christ, officiating.
