Richard Wayne Schroeder

Richard Wayne Schroeder, 90, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 in Burkburnett, Texas.  Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Iowa Park with Pastor Michael Cody officiating.  Graveside services will follow at the Clara Cemetery in Clara, Texas under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.

Richard was born January 21, 1931 in Olney Springs, Colorado to Emil John Claude and Willa Bell (McCoullah) Schroeder.  He married Betty Jane Sullivan on November 4, 1951 in Iowa Park.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty Jane Schroeder of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Witherspoon of Iowa Park; daughter, Karen Spruiell and husband, Duncan of Iowa Park; son, Richard Wayne Schroeder, Jr. and wife, Tracy of Wichita Falls, Texas; son, Perry and Shannon Schroeder of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Chad & Karen Witherspoon, Clint and Elizabeth Witherspoon, Michelle and Ken Schlaud, Michael and Lisa Neves, Miranda and Tanner O’Neal, D’Ann and Brian De’Cloure, Jennifer and Ricky Amador, Lacy Schroeder, Mason Schroeder, Tyler and Sheyanne Gay; great grandchildren, Seth and Michelle Witherspoon, Corey Witherspoon, Drew Witherspoon, Kaycen Witherspoon, Joshua Witherspoon, Michael Neves, Peyton Neves, Kai O’Neal, Allison De’Cloure, Hanna De’Cloure, and Kelsi De’Cloure, Jordan Amador, Tyson Amador, Emmerson Amador, Simon Amador; and great-great grandchildren, Brayden and Jackson Witherspoon; Olivia, Grace, and Ryan Schlaud.  Psalm 127:3-5a “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.  Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.  Blessed be the man who’s quiver is full of them.  They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.  Richard is also survived by two sisters, Lorraine Finstead and Linda Rogers; and one sister-in-law, Carlene Bennett.  

Richard is preceded in death by his grandson, Luke Gay; and his siblings, Luke Herbert Shroeder, Helen Schroeder Eaton, Juanita Tonn and Raymond Schroeder all preceded Richard in death.  

Memorials are suggested to be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Iowa Park.
