Dale E. Thompson
Dale E. Thompson passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2020 in Iowa Park, Texas at the age of 88. He was born to the late Samuel and Lulu Thompson in Newcomerstown, Ohio on April 29, 1932. He had one brother, the late Myron D. Thompson.
Dale graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1950. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Airforce and was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. This venture led him to Vernon, Texas where he met his wife of 69 years, Mary J. Todd. The two were married on June 16, 1951.
After Dale was discharged from the Air Force, he moved to Iowa Park, Texas where he resided in a home for 62 years he helped build and worked for the US Postal Service. After retiring from the US Postal Service, Dale drove a school bus for Iowa Park CISD where he was known for singing goofy songs to entertain his young passengers.
Dale was a man of great faith and was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Iowa Park. His pride and joy were his two daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Affectionately known as Papa, he would regularly let his family know they were only around because “he came out of those Ohio hills.”
He is survived by his wife, Mary and two daughters, Chriselda Thompson and Tamara Dickerson (Bo), all of Iowa Park Texas. Other survivors include his 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
