Reported cases of COVID-19 remain steady
COVID-19 numbers increased by 82 cases during the past week in Wichita County, with two additional deaths from the disease reported since last Tuesday.
In addition, the Iowa Park Schools reported a positive case of COVID-19 of a W.F. George Middle School staff member last Wednesday; and a student at Iowa Park High School on Thursday. Both cases have been classified as low risk exposures by the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health Unit.
Friday, an 80+ year old identified as Case 1,379 died from the novel Coronavirus. The county reported another death Tuesday, when case 1,409, an 80+ year old patient, succumbed to the virus. Both were reportedly hospitalized at the time of their death.
Thus far, 18 Wichita County residents have died from COVID-19.
Since last Tuesday, the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health Unit reported 82 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, 11 of those from the Iowa Park zip code.
In their weekly report last Friday, the WF-WCPHU reported 38 active cases in Iowa Park, 18 percent of the county’s cases.
The number of new positive cases brings the total number of active cases in the county to 220, with 81 recoveries reported in the past week. A total of 38 tests were pending as of Tuesday evening.
The total number of confirmed Covid cases reported in Wichita County since March 18 is 1,429 with 1,191 of those recovered.
To date in Wichita County, a total of 19,050 residents have been tested with 17,583 of those results negative.
The number of those hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19 remained the same at 22 this week as of Tuesday evening, with three of those listed in critical condition. The latest information on hospitalizations released by the WFWC Public Health District include:
