Another three COVID-19 deaths reported in county
Three more Wichita County residents succumbed to COVID-19 in the past week, according to the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District.
Last Wednesday, Case 556 passed away. The patient was 70 - 79 and hospitalized at the time of death.
On Friday, the health district reported the death of Case 333, an individual who was 80+ and hospitalized at the time of death.
Case 307, an 80+, patient, passed away Saturday. The individual had been hospitalized in critical care.
The three deaths this week brings the total of deaths in the county attributed to COVID-19 to nine.
The Wichita Falls-Wichita County Health District reported 116 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Wichita County in the past seven days. In addition, they are reporting another 95 recoveries in the same timeframe.
Iowa Park is reporting a total of 65 COVID cases, up seven from last week. This past Friday, the health unit reported a total of 30 active cases in the Iowa Park zip code.
Lou Kreidler, Wichita County Health Director, said, “We continue to see numbers in the double digits. I hope that with people wearing maskes we’ll see a decrease in the number of cases.”
“We’ve been running about a 100 cases a week,” Kreidlertinued. “I think that is going to be a normal for us until we see a decrease. If we can get everyone to stay home when they’re sick, and wear their mask religiously, it will make a difference.”
The total number of Covid cases reported in Wichita County since March 18 is 764 with 245 of those recovered. So far in Wichita County, a total of 13,763 residents have been tested with 12,268 of the results coming back negative. As of Wednesday morning, 731 tests were still pending.
The number of those hospitalized with the novel coronavirus was 20 Tuesday evening, with eight of those in critical condition. The latest information on hospitalizations released by the WFWC Public Health District include:

Wichita County Detention Center
“The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office has one inmate in the Wichita County Detention Center that has tested positive for covid 19. The 61-year-old male is currently housed at the Annex Facility and has been in custody for over a year. The inmate was tested at the request of a Physician who was scheduled to see him for a medical appointment. The inmate and other inmates in the housing unit have shown no signs of symptoms of Covid 19. All precautions are being taken to safeguard all prisoners housed in the Wichita County Detention Center.

Texas Department of Criminal Justice Allred Unit
The Allred Unit of the TDCJ is reporting via the state website that they have three active employee cases and two employees who are recovered. In addition they show one recovered offender, one offender in medical restriction and six in medical isolation as of Wednesday morning.
