Vera Inez Gregg
Vera Inez Gregg went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 6, 2020 in Iowa Park, TX. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, private funeral services will be held at 2:00 Saturday, May 9th, 2020 at First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park with Pastor Jeff Pehl officiating. Public graveside services will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery. An open viewing will be from 2:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Dutton Funeral Home.
Inez was born January 1, 1930 to Henry and Lona Latham. She was the sixth of seven siblings. She attended Bomarton schools in Bomarton, TX. On June 19, 1946 she married her protector and love of her life, H. K. “Chuffy” Gregg. They were married for 68 years. Together they raised their three daughters; Judy, Vickie, and Mickie - the lights of their lives. They’ve resided in Iowa Park, TX since 1960.
As the proud wife of a Navy soldier and longtime farmer, Inez was an exceptional homemaker for her three children and, later, her eight grandchildren. She blessed them each with her talents in sewing, quilting, cooking, and baking. She loved her family fiercely and nothing brought her more joy than holding a newborn baby. She was a natural nurturer and lovingly known as Momma Gregg to her grandchildren and many others who loved her dearly. Inez and Chuffy enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping. They shared those hobbies with their entire family. They were members of First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park.
Inez is preceded in death by her husband, Chuffy; her parents, Henry and Lona; three sisters, Hazel Wicker, Francis Moore, Pearl Tucker; and three brothers, Houston Latham, Eugene Latham, and Harold Latham.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Mike and Judy Young, Ronnie and Vickie Benson, and Steve and Mickie Moody all of Iowa Park; eight grandchildren, Scott Young and wife Jana, Gregg Young and wife Shandy, Jodi Trietsch and husband Shane, Brandon Scott, Laci Medlinger and husband Jimmy, Heather Rusk and husband Colby, Mollie Morton and husband Lance, and Latham Moody and wife Carli; 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is leaving behind a family who loves her tremendously and wants her to be remembered as a strong woman who was dedicated to the happiness and well-being of her loved ones.
