Frances Jewell Thomas

Frances Jewell Thomas, 94, passed away at her son’s home in Austin, on Monday, Dec. 30.

Viewing was held Friday at Dutton Funeral Home.

Graveside services were held Saturday, in Newport Cemetery, Newport, with her nephew David Medley officiating. Jewell was born at home in Newport, to Harriet Allena Gardenhire and Thomas Homer Cleveland on Oct. 25, 1925. In 1945 she married Freddie Thomas. She was a homemaker who also cut hair in her home. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, reading and crossword puzzles. Her favorite television series were Days of Our Lives since 1965 and Young and the Restless since 1973.

She is preceded by her parents; her husband, Freddie Leonzo Thomas; daughter, Freida Elaine Singletary; and sister, Alice Loree Medley.

Survivors include her sons, Wes Thomas of San Antonio and Ken Thomas of Austin; a brother, Tom Cleveland of Ft. Worth; two grandchildren: seven great-grandchildren: and three great great-grandchildren.
