Dorothy Verna Ray Boon

Dorothy Verna Ray Boon, 95, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019, in Wichita Falls.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.

Dorothy was born on May 17, 1923, in Erath County to Joseph and Myrtle Ray. She married William Edward Boon on May 6, 1950, in Mineral Wells. They lived in Mineral Wells for 51 years, until his death in 2001. She worked for the Department of Human Resources and retired after 35 years. She would volunteer even after she retired. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, and three brothers.

Surviving relatives include her two daughters, Lynda O’Brien of Fort Worth, and Janet Bowling of Iowa Park; a brother, Donald Ray of Sundown; a sister, Peggy Butler of Huckabay; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
