Wearing masks optional for start of IPCISD school year
With COVID numbers starting to rise again with the new Delta variant, and Governor Greg Abbott limiting what measures school districts can take to combat it, Iowa Park CISD Superintendent Steve Moody said the local plan is to begin as normal as possible, going back to the pre-COVID routine.
“Our goal is to provide a safe environment for students and staff,” Moody said Tuesday. Masks are optional for students, staff, and visitors; students will be asked to stay home if sick or showing COVID symptoms; continue sanitizing procedures and promote hand washing; and the district will continue to notify parents of infections or outbreaks.
“We have to adapt as we move along, but right now we will start the school year as normal as possible,” Moody said.
