COVID cases slow, recoveries up in county
Some good news this week concerning coronavirus: as of presstime Wednesday this week, the Wichita County Health Unit had reported a total of 56 positive cases of Covid-19 in Wichita County, up only eight from the 48 confirmed last week.
Of the 1,590 people tested thus far in Wichita County, 1,443 have returned as negative and 91 test results are still pending.
Wichita County had three days in a row the past week with no confirmed cases and three more recovered, which is a positive sign. Lindsay Barker, director of communication for the Wichita County Health Unit, stressed the importance of continuing to practice social distancing and staying home as much as possible.
Of those who were confirmed positive, 14 have recovered, two are recovering at the hospital and 40 are recovering at home.
The new cases since last week include:
Case 49
The patient is between the ages of 40 - 49 and is currently in isolation at home recovering. This is a travel-related case.
Case 50
The patient is between the ages of 20 – 29 and is currently in isolation at home recovering. The patient is a contact to a previous case.
Case 51
The patient is 60 – 69 and is at home in isolation recovering. The patient is a close contact to a previous case.
Case 52
The patient is 60 - 69 and is at home in isolation recovering. The patient is a contact to a previous case.
Case 53
The patient is 30 – 39 and is at home in isolation recovering. The patient is a contact to a previous case.
Case 54
The patient is 60 – 69 and is currently hospitalized in stable condition. The patient is a contact to a previous case.
Case 55
The patient is 20 – 29 and the contact tracing is still on-going at this time.
Case 56
The patient is 70 - 79 and is currently hospitalized in stable condition. The patient is a close contact of a previ-
