COVID-19 cases trending upward in Wichita County
Wichita County COVID-19 cases trended upward again this week, with 110 new cases reported since last Tuesday. The previous week’s total of new cases was 84.
In addition, two victims succumbed to the virus this week, bringing the death count in Wichita County to 12.
Case 588, 70 - 79 years old, passed away late Monday afternoon; and Case 908, 80+, passed away Tuesday. Both individuals were hospitalized at the time of death.
The Iowa Park zip code is reporting a total of 17 new cases since last Tuesday, for a total of 91 confirmed cases since March. The Wichita Falls Wichita County Health Unit reported on Friday that Iowa Park has 18 active cases, however since Friday 10 additional cases have been reported here.
The Health Unit reported 122 recoveries in Wichita County in the past week.
The Allred Unit
The Allred Unit of the TDCJ is reporting via the state website that they have 16 active inmate cases and 20 employee active cases.
All inmate cases are reported in the Iowa Park zip code, although apparently not in real time, and the employees are reported in the county in which they live.
In addition they show fourrecovered offenders, six recovered employees, 956 on medical restriction and 21 in medical isolation, according to the state website.
The total number of confirmed Covid cases reported in Wichita County since March 18 is 1,056 with 769 of those recovered.
To date in Wichita County, a total of 16,265 residents have been tested with 14,862 of those results negative. As of Wednesday morning, 347 tests were still pending.
The number of those hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19 was 17 as of Tuesday evening, with five of those listed in critical condition. The latest information on hospitalizations released by the WFWC Public Health District include:
