Combined Christmas lighting, parade Saturday
Santa will make his appearance in Iowa Park Saturday escorted by the Iowa Park Volunteer Fire Department’s Lighted Christmas Parade.
The Iowa Park Volunteer Fire Department Lighted Christmas Parade and the City of Iowa Park’s Tom Burnett Memorial Library Light up Christmas Lighting Ceremony will be held in conjunction with each other Saturday.
The fire department will escort Santa’s arrival in the parade and when Santa arrives at the library he will turn on the Christmas Lights before visiting with the children.
Iowa Park CISD band students will provide entertainment and refreshments will be served.
Parade entries are now being accepted.
So as not to confuse the children watching for Santa’s arrival, no Santa look a likes will be allowed to participate in the parade.
The parade will start at 7 p.m. downtown on East Cash and end at the library where refreshments will be served and Santa will turn the lights on and visit with the children.
Parade line-up will start at 6:15 p.m. at Bond and East Cash Streets.
The parade will travel west on Cash Street to Yosemite Street where it will turn north one block and travel east on Park Street, make a u-turn at Wall Street and travel back west on Park Street to Pacific Street. It will then turn north on Pacific Street and end at Magnolia Street.
There is no charge to participate in the parade, but monetary donations or donations of new toys for the Kidz Christmas program is encouraged.
Also, starting at 8 a.m. that Saturday morning firefighters will be taking donations to fill their boots for the Kidz Christmas program at the intersections of Yosemite and West Highway and Johnson Road and West Highway.
