2018 IPHS Homecoming this weekend

With Homecoming weekend here, and several activities are lined up and ready to keep those in Iowa Park busy.
Thursday -Today
Pep Rally

A pep rally will be held at 8 p.m. in the high school gym and a bon fire will follow.
Free Lunch

A Community Chow Down with free hamburgers and hot dogs, bottled water, and chips, will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, in the 100 block of East Cash.
The event is sponsored by S5! Manufacturing and the City of Iowa Park employees will be cooking.
The homecoming parade will start rolling at 3 p.m., carrying out the theme Football is More than a Game/Board and Card Game themes.
Parade applications are available at the high school office or contact Holly Lahman at 592-5241 or
Cost is $10 for walking and $15 for cars/floats.
The Hawks will challenge the Mineral Wells Rams. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
The crowning of the Homecoming Queen will be during half time and following the game a fireworks show will be held.
Historic Display
Iowa Park historic items will be on display at 109 West Cash from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. Saturday.
Amie Schultz, chief librarian at Tom Burnett Memorial Library will display several Iowa Park community and IP CISD historic items that have been donated or loaned.
Friendly Door Breakfast

Friendly Door Senior Citizen’s Center, 810 North Third, will hold their annual All You Can Eat Homecoming Breakfast from 6:30 to 10 a.m.
The all-you-can-eat menu will include pancakes, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, orange juice and milk. Cost is $8 a plate.
Turtle Trot

Your turtles should be revved up and ready for the annual Dutton Funeral Home Turtle Trot Race that will kick off Whoop-T-Do activities Saturday morning.
Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. at Whoop-T-Do. The race will start promptly at 9:15 a.m.
There will be first through third places in three age groups, as well as an overall champion, and a best dressed turtle. Contestants should not use items that harm the turtle to dress it.
The age groups are: Four and Under; Five through Seven; and Eight to 12 years-old.
A cash prize will be awarded for the Grand Champion as well as a trophy; best dressed will receive a trophy and all three age division heats will be awarded medals for first, second and third places.

9 a.m. - IPHS Mean Green Marching Machine high school and middle school band students will perform.
10 a.m. - Iowa Park middle school and high school choir.

Alumni Luncheon
The Iowa Park Alumni Association will have their annual Homecoming luncheon Saturday, in the IPHS school cafeteria.
The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Catering will be provided by Rafter J’s with a barbecue dinner and all the ‘fixings’.
If you plan to attend and have not made reservations contact Sue if possible.
However, walk-ins are welcome.

If you reserve by phone and circumstances keep you from attending, we still have to pay for your food.
The event will include a small auction of three items.
Items to be auctioned include:
Mike Hicks has donated a 16x20 printed cross picture on metal, ready to hang.
John Trahan designed and created a cross (approximately. 2 feet high) made entirely of horseshoes and horseshoe nails.
Bill Gilmore has returned a previous auction item from the year we celebrated the Texas-Oklahoma Fair theme, an original Jack Stevens drawing of the T-O Fair auditorium.
Any monies given will be donated directly to the IPAA Scholarship Fund for deserving seniors of IPHS.
The Coming Home Queen will be selected by a drawing from the alumna attending.
There will also be drawings for several door prizes.
Everyone is encouraged to come home, visit, renew old friendships and help keep this organization growing.
Doorway to Gourmet will hold a street dance starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West Park.
Live performances will be held by Tony Byers and Trent Murray.
In addition to the entertainment and dance, there will be a $100 giveaway and the First Annual Local Celebrity Pie Eating Contest.
Food and beverages will be available.
