School trustees approve 2018-19 budget

The Iowa Park CISD Board of Trustees met in special session on Aug. 28, and after holding public hearings they adopted the budget for the 2918-19 school year and tax rate for 2018.
The budget of $18,771,920, with a deficit of $132,731, will be funded by the same tax rate as last year - $1.33 per $100 valuation.
Trustees also approved the amended budget for 2017-18.
Superintendent Steve Moody reported on student enrollment that now stands at 1906 and is up 70 students over the end of school last year. He said this is the first time since 2001-02 that Iowa Park’s enrollment has been over 1900.
The student count includes 507 at Kidwell Elementary, 440 at Bradford Elementary, 422 at W.F. George Middle School, and 537 at Iowa Park High School. Bradford’s 4th Grade is the largest class with 157 students.
In other business, Cindy Teichman was hired as District Services Coordinator/PEIMS. She will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Paige Liggett.
