Start of new school year right around the corner

Students in the Iowa Park School District will return to classes Thursday, Aug. 16, for the 2018-2019 school year.
On Thursday, classes will begin at 8 a.m. on all campuses, and students will be released two hours early the first day of school and the second day classes will be held regular hours.
To help students to become familiar with the school and their teacher, meet the teachers will be held Tuesday at Kidwell and Bradford Elementary and Monday and Tuesday at Middle School.
Fish Camp for 9th graders at IPHS will be held 8:45 a.m. until noon, Wednesday.
Kidwell and Bradford
Meet the Teacher will be held next week.
Kidwell Elementary will be open from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
You may take your labeled school supplies that day. Teacher lists with student names will be posted on the front windows of Kidwell, Tuesday.
Bradford Elementary will be from 6 to 7:15 p.m.; teacher list with student names were posted on the cafeteria windows today.
Students may take their supplies on meet the teacher night.
WF George Middle School
6th Grade - Monday students should arrive at 5 p.m. and receive their schedule, locker number, and combination. Students wll then organize their lockers and store school supplies and meet their teachers. At 6 p.m. students will tour the campus and visit the cafeteria for refreshments. They can also order their t-shirt. Cost is $10.
At 6:30 p.m. students go to flight training classes.
Parents will remain in the cafeteria for Q&A: Middle School 101.
At 7 p.m. students will collect their parents and be dismissed.
7th & 8th Grade - Tuesday from 5 till 7 p.m. Come and go. Students can collect their schedule, organize lockers, meet teachers, and tour the campus. Also, students may order their t-shirt which is $10.
High School
Iowa Park High School teachers and staff will welcome incoming ninth grade students to the Caught by the Hawk Fish Camp Wednesday, Aug. 15 prior to the first day of school.
The annual event includes activities that will help prepare members of the Class of 2022 for their first year of high school.
The Fish Camp schedule is as follows:
8:45 - 9:00 a.m. – Arrival of Freshmen (come in the front doors and proceed to the auditorium)
9:00 – Welcome Assembly
9:20 – T-shirt pickup/locker assignments
9:45 – Advisory (get schedule, go over bell schedule, plus question and answer time)
10:10 – Schedule walk through
11:10 – Pep Rally
11:35 – Pizza Lunch
All school rules apply during Fish Camp. Students should wear clothes that are dress code appropriate. No hats are to be worn in the building.
Parents should make arrangements before the first day of school for bus transportation.
Returning students should sign up for bus transportation when filling out online registration.
New students may sign up by calling the administration office at 592-5082.
Lunch prices for the coming school year will be: Kidwell Elementary, $2.25; Bradford Elementary, $2.55; W.F. George Middle School, $2.85; Iowa Park High School, $2.85; adults on all campuses, $3.75; and guests at all campuses, $3.75.
The district will provide free breakfast for all district students.
Parents should log in to their SKYWARD account to register students, pay Chromebook fees, complete lunch forms, put money on lunch accounts, verify important contact information, and sign up for text alerts.
Iowa Park CISD currently does not offer online registration for new students. Parents can enroll their child at the appropriate campus from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
You will need to take the following to enroll your child: withdrawal form from previous schools, copy of child’s birth certificate, copy of child’s social security card, copy of child’s immunization record, transcript of grades or current report card from previous school, proof of residency (copy of rental agreement or utility connection).
Also, To enroll a student or students, you must be the parent or legal guardian, and must also provide a copy of your driver’s license or other picture ID.
If you are a legal guardian, you must provide a copy of the legal guardianship papers on file.
