Green defeats Stanford,
Wyn re-elected to council

After votes in Saturday’s local election were tallied, incumbent Brad Wynn retained his seat on the Iowa Park City Council, and Brad Green will be the new face on the Iowa Park CISD School Board.
In the city council election, Wynn defeated opponent Michael Baker 226 to 96 for Place 2; Mayor Ray Schultz, running unopposed, received 287 votes to keep that position; and incumbent Lori Shierry, also unopposed, received 286 votes to remain in Place 4.
Newly-elected council members will take the oath of office during the city council meeting on Monday.
In the school board election Green defeated Michael Stanford 289 to 184 for Place 3. Incumbent Shawn Price, Place 1, received 379 votes and incumbent Greg Deatherage, Place 2, received 381 to remain in their positions on the board. Both were running unopposed.
Ballots will be canvassed and elected trustees sworn in at the regular meeting of the school board on Thursday.
